One airline customer had engine starters overhauled by the manufacturer at an average cost of $34k per unit, with a turnaround time of 6-8 weeks. By utilizing relationships and applying knowledge of the spares market, We were able to cut the cost per overhaul by $20k while improving turnaround time to 21-24 days. The work performed was just as reliable, and the warranty terms identical. If a starter was worn beyond repair, an overhauled replacement unit was provided at a fraction of the cost of new. To date, this arrangement has saved the customer $1m.
